Strike Fighter Squadron 41 (VFA-41), also known as the "Black Aces," is a U.S. Navy squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California, flying the F/A-18F Super Hornet. By January 2010, the squadron had completed over 2,500 combat hours and 400 missions supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. VFA-41 joined CVW-9 in 2010 and deployed aboard USS John C. Stennis in 2011 for operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and maritime security. After a brief turnaround, the squadron deployed again in 2012 for missions in support of the 5th Fleet and Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2016, VFA-41 deployed to the South China Sea and conducted combat operations over Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. The squadron returned to NAS Lemoore in May 2019 after completing operations for multiple missions including Inherent Resolve, Resolute Support, and Freedom Sentinel.
