FAQ

What's the story with Callsign Boogie? Are you or your staff military or ex-military veterans?

No one here at Callsign Boogie is a military veteran or active duty. This is a place for like-minded warriors of the mind; enthusiasts for military combat, fighter air combat tactics and strategies, naval warfare, aircraft carrier life, etc. We read all we can (and have for decades) on these subjects as personal interests and studies. We attend all the airshows we can find, and will occasionally without warning disappear into the bowels of the USS Midway carrier docked in San Diego, and not be seen or heard from for hours.

For me, I do work in the aviation field as an aircraft fueler in Southern California.

Do you fly any aircraft in DCS World?

Most do, yes. Personally, I fly the F/A-18c Hornet almost exclusively. It's the jet my home built sim pit is based on, and that to me adds some immersion. I've been an active member of several online VFA squadrons, participated in several Red Flag events. Flying in a group of like-minded virtual pilots is where the magic happens for DCS, in my opinion. I have spent many months flying campaigns solo and there is value in that, for sure. It is quite helpful in learning the weapon systems and weapons themselves, navigation tactics and radio communication. But taking those skills you've honed offline and participating in online missions and events is where it can feel quite convincing to actually being there and doing the thing. And that feeling is the best one of all.

Can I purchase a t-shirt with your version of the VFA-143 squadron logo (or any other)?

The US Navy and US Marine Corps own their respective squadron emblems from the real-life squadrons, and rightfully so. Since Callsign Boogie is not officially licensed, we cannot officially sell merchandise featuring these emblems. We have on occasion been able to create some products if our graphical representation of the original designs are our own and do not directly or too closely match the original versions. These have been kind of on a case by case basis.

We have created a few fictional squadron designs and those of course are free to merchandise at will.

Can you design something I have in my head and merchandise it?

We've created a few fictional squadron emblems in the past. Hit us up with what you have in mind and let's chat.
